Publication Ethics and Malpractice Policy
The IV. International Congress on Organizational Management considers the production of reliable, original, transparent and ethically responsible scientific knowledge as one of its fundamental principles. All papers submitted to and/or considered for publication within the scope of the congress are evaluated in accordance with the principles of academic integrity, impartiality, confidentiality, accountability and scientific responsibility.
In line with the congress theme, which focuses on intergenerational interaction, new generation leadership approaches, management sciences, organizational behavior, digital transformation, human resources, strategic management and related disciplines, the ethical compliance of submissions is regarded as an integral part of the scientific evaluation process.
General Principles of Publication Ethics
Papers submitted to the congress must be original, must not have been previously published, and must not be under simultaneous review by another congress, journal or publication platform. Authors are required to cite all sources properly and must not use ideas, data, methods, tables, figures or expressions belonging to others without appropriate acknowledgement.
Plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate publication, salami slicing, improper authorship, concealment of conflicts of interest and attempts to manipulate the review process are considered forms of academic malpractice.
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are responsible for the scientific content, accuracy and ethical compliance of the papers they submit to the congress. All data, methods, findings and interpretations included in the study must be presented accurately, clearly and in a verifiable manner.
Individuals who have made a meaningful academic, theoretical, methodological or written contribution to the study must be listed as authors. Including individuals who have not contributed to the study as authors, or excluding individuals who have contributed, is considered an ethical violation.
Authors must clearly declare any financial support, institutional affiliations or potential conflicts of interest. For studies involving human participants, surveys, interviews, scale applications or institutional data, obtaining the necessary ethics committee approval, institutional permission or participant consent is the responsibility of the authors.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers must evaluate the papers assigned to them in accordance with the principles of impartiality, confidentiality and scientific objectivity. Reviewers should only accept assignments that fall within their area of expertise and must decline the review process in cases where a conflict of interest exists.
Reviewer reports should be constructive, justified, academically appropriate and aimed at improving the quality of the work. Information and documents obtained during the review process must not be shared with third parties or used for personal or academic gain.
Responsibilities of Editors and the Publication Board
Editors, proceedings editors and members of the relevant publication board are responsible for ensuring that submissions are evaluated fairly, impartially and in accordance with academic criteria. The author’s title, institution, gender, nationality, belief, political opinion or personal characteristics must not influence the evaluation process.
Editors and the publication board have the right to initiate investigations in cases of suspected ethical violations, request explanations or documents from authors, remove a paper from the review process, cancel an acceptance decision or withdraw a published work when necessary.
Forms of Academic Malpractice
- Quoting or using content without proper citation, or committing plagiarism,
- Fabricating data, altering data or presenting findings in a misleading manner,
- Publishing or submitting the same work to more than one venue,
- Artificially dividing a study into multiple publications,
- Listing individuals as authors who have not contributed to the study,
- Excluding individuals who have contributed to the study from the author list,
- Using ideas, methods, scales, tables, figures or data belonging to other persons or institutions without permission or citation,
- Failing to obtain required ethics committee approval or participant consent,
- Concealing conflicts of interest,
- Violating confidentiality in review or editorial processes.
Similarity and Plagiarism Check
Papers submitted to the congress may be subjected to similarity and plagiarism checks when deemed necessary. In evaluating similarity, not only the numerical similarity rate but also the nature of the similarity, citation practices, appropriateness of quotations, methodological necessities and academic writing requirements are taken into consideration.
References, standard methodological expressions, institutional names and technical terms may be considered separately during the similarity assessment. However, even if sources are cited, a paper may be rejected or revision may be requested if the level of similarity weakens the originality and academic contribution of the study.
Procedure in Cases of Suspected Ethical Violation
In cases of suspected ethical violation or academic malpractice, the relevant paper is subject to investigation. When necessary, authors may be asked to provide explanations, additional documents, data sets, ethics committee approvals or revisions.
If the violation is confirmed, the paper may be removed from the review process, the acceptance decision may be cancelled, the paper may be removed from the congress program, or, if already published, it may be withdrawn from the proceedings or publication content. The organizing committee reserves the right to inform the relevant institutions when deemed necessary.
Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence
Authors may use generative artificial intelligence tools only as supportive tools. Artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors. The scientific content, accuracy of data, use of sources, analyses and ethical compliance of the study remain entirely the responsibility of the authors.
If text, tables, visuals, analyses or translation support have been generated or edited with the assistance of artificial intelligence tools, this must be transparently stated in the relevant section of the paper.
Final Provision
All authors who submit papers to the IV. International Congress on Organizational Management are deemed to have accepted this Publication Ethics and Malpractice Policy. The organizing committee reserves the right to make decisions regarding the review, acceptance and publication processes when necessary in order to preserve scientific quality and academic ethical standards.
